An elegant blend of opulence and functionality, Abhishek and Sradha’s charming apartment in Noida encapsulates all they could have ever wanted in their dream home. For the young couple, this was their first home, and they knew that even if they were to buy a larger home and shift after a decade or so, this one would be always close to their hearts. They wanted a sophisticated interior that looked luxurious, but did not come with a hefty price tag; and that’s exactly what their dedicated HomeLane design team gave them!
“This house is a reflection of the two of us!” gushes Sradha, talking about why they chose HomeLane as their interior design services provider. “There were two main reasons why we loved HomeLane. One: their timeline of 45 days. Two: their aesthetics! When we visited the showroom, quite a lot of things appealed to us. Their ideas blended well with our paintings, the furniture we’ve selected and so on “.
The visual narrative of their home is anchored in a soft colour palette of beige, tan and white, with only the children’s room stepping outside this triad to embrace vibrant hues. The design language is articulated to capture their sense of style, and perfectly embodies their vision for their home.
Right from the foyer, the lustre of gold and brass accents takes centre stage, lending a sumptuous air. A delightfully spare table is topped with green Italian marble, and holds brass candlesticks and gold-tipped photo frames. The circular mirror is beautifully framed in gold against the backdrop of fluted ivory wallpaper with a metallic tint.
Shades of brown and ivory dominate the classical-style living room, where the designer has taken pains to introduce elegant textures and artistic flair. An oversized painting in fiery tones of red and black takes up an entire wall, setting the mood for the room. Marble-topped nesting tables are supported by gleaming brass legs that add flair to the space. Luxurious silken drapes at the windows run from the floor till the ceiling, lending a plush aesthetic.
A simple freestanding entertainment centre blends into the backdrop and offers space to display charming lamps and artefacts. Brass footstools are tucked away below, introducing an element of bling to the otherwise sober interior. The strategic use of Victorian-style POP detailing on the walls defines the backdrop, infusing a touch of quiet sophistication.
Each of the three bedrooms in the house maintains its own unique identity. Curated in shades of ivory, the master bedroom is done up in a subtly minimalistic style. A vertical ribbed panel behind the TV injects visual interest to the monochromatic palette.
On the adjacent wall, the simple wardrobe features Scandinavian-style sliding shutters, and beautifully organises ‘his and her’ clothing. The effortlessly chic, minimal use of colours keeps the spaces looking clean and fresh.
Carefully hand-picked quirky accents and artefacts infuse the interior with the personality of the home owners. Here, hand embroidered mats and family photographs lend warmth to the compact bedside table. A hand-knotted dhurrie is cozy underfoot, while the sumptuous leather couch makes the perfect reading corner on nights when sleep doesn’t come easily!
The guest bedroom is deliberately kept low-key and neutral, done up in a captivating meld of patterns and textures. Dainty printed bedsheets with matching pillowcases lend an old-world charm, while the lively patterned curtains add modern style. The single armchair is dressed up in red velvet and makes a stunning statement. A lovely waterscape above the bed is soothing and serene, well suited to peaceful slumber.
A large low bed takes up almost all the floor space in the children’s bedroom, providing plenty of room for the two little munchkins to roll around and play. The little ones are very fond of aeroplanes and cloudy skies, and this is the theme that has been followed in the cheery wallpaper and bed covers.
An in-built wardrobe in simple, sleek ivory fades into the background, allowing the vibrant wallpaper to shine, and has ample space for the children’s clothes and toys.
The lighting plan in each room has been carefully curated to enhance warmth and improve practical functionality. Here, spotlights and recessed lights in the false ceiling provide ambient light, while the fluted table lamps cast intriguing pools of warm light below. The modern glass chandelier lends a touch of class.
Every element is meticulously curated to blend in with the overall aesthetic. Reflected in the bevelled mirrored sections on the dining room wall are twin lamps, brass candlesticks, and an elegant porcelain vase on the dining room console alongside.
Just adjacent to the kitchen, the circular glass-topped dining table comfortably seats four. The mirrored wall serves to enhance the sense of space, making the room appear larger than it is and reflecting multiple sources of warm light in the room.
The narrow kitchen is designed galley-style to enhance functional aspects and improve the spatial function. Two upper runs of cabinetry stretch the storage volume, while deep and wide drawers below the counter allow efficient organisation of kitchen essentials. Rustic curved handles in black metal punctuate the cabinet faces, adding an earthy element.
Crafted out of wood-finished membrane in pale ash, the tonality of the kitchen cabinets is in sync with the understated palette of the interiors. Bold horizontal stripes in the tiled backsplash are lightly flecked with gold veins and add a sense of continuum to the spaces.
Abhishek was very happy with the way the project was handled by HomeLane from start to finish. “The management told us that we could now relax, since they were there to manage everything! We were happy to hand over the keys to them—and we did, in fact, relax till the keys were returned!”
