A lovely design concept that draws on inspiration from nature, biophilic home décor themes are very popular today. If you’re someone who loves the outdoors and would love to incorporate elements of nature in your home, then you’ll love this design style!

Greenery inside the house comes with a slew of benefits—enhancing the wellness quotient of your home, for one thing, and bringing in a restful ambience inside your home. But what happens when you love the lushness of a lawn, but just don’t have the time for all the watering, pruning and weeding that actual gardening entails?

Artificial lawns are your answer! Even if you have a brown thumb, you can stock up on artificial grass that looks just as lush and natural as real greens. And it doesn’t have to be confined to the outdoors. Artificial grass can be used in many creative ways inside your home to add a lovely green touch that will never dry out, wilt or wither away.

No weeds, no fertiliser and no watering! If that sounds great to you, here are some lovely design ideas that make the best use of artificial grass inside your home.

#1. A Green Wall in Your Living Room

This gorgeous green carpet on your living room wall blends right in with the exposed brick on either side, adding a tropical summery feel the whole year-round. Get a feel-good ambience with greenery that doesn’t need any care at all! Plants in ceramic pots extend the connect with the outdoors.

#2. Tee Off on Your Terrace!

Synthetic grass is the ideal choice if you’re setting up a mini golf strip on your terrace. Tee off in style, with a green lawn that looks and even feels as natural as the real thing! You can even DIY this on a weekend—all it takes is fixing a sheet of artificial turf to the terrace floor and hammering a frame all around.

This designer has gone a step further, with twining green climbers on the grassy wall—an inspired décor concept, indeed! Transform any space in your home into a lush green wonderland that looks just like the real deal.

#4. A Lawn for Your Kids

Kids love boisterous play, and can end up hurting themselves on regular carpets—but artificial grass is built to cushion their fall and give them a soft landing. Lay down a soft, resilient lawn in your child’s playroom that’s guaranteed to give them hours of rough-and-tumble playtime. Just don’t be surprised if the entire football eleven turns up in your home!

#6. Green Your Balcony

Even a tiny balcony can become a green oasis by laying a lawn with faux turf. Add layers of plants, a hammock and some garden chairs, and you have the perfect spot to while away weekend afternoons.

#7. Grassy Steps

Decorating with fake greens is perfectly okay in our book, especially if you don’t have the time or patience to care for living plants! Here, garden steps that are lined with artificial grass blend in beautifully into the surroundings, and can prevent nasty falls in wet weather as they provide a good foothold.

#8. Staircase Wall

Tired of looking at a blank staircase wall? Spruce it up with a vertical lawn and add a green connect between floors in your home! And if you cleverly combine fake grass with couple of real houseplants, you can never make out the difference.

#9. A Garden in Your Bathroom

We fill every other room with plants, so what’s stopping us from bringing some leafy greens into the bathroom as well? Turn your bathroom into a refreshing spa with a vertical garden that becomes a fun focal point. And if you choose to have fake greens, then you can get away with almost zero maintenance as well!

What Exactly Is Artificial Grass, and How Is It Maintained?

Artificial grass, also called Astro Turf, was originally designed for use in golfing greens. Made of synthetic polyester fibres, it is a weather-resistant alternative to real grass that is durable and requires very little maintenance.

It not only looks like real grass, it feels like it too—without the hassles of mowing, weeding, fertilising and watering! It costs upward of Rs 60 per square foot and is very easy to install. The initial cost is very quickly recovered over the long run, as it stays looking as good as new for many, many years.

If your lawn is installed outdoors, you can hose it down with water to remove dust and dirt and restore the lush green look. If used indoors, just use a brush to remove dirt, if any, or vacuum the surface as you would a regular carpet.
