A yin-and-yang palette of black and white sets the tone for this 4500 sqft villa in Tiruppur, Coimbatore. The dream home of Anitha and Mahenthiran, the interior of this lovely villa has been skilfully crafted by HomeLane designer Sowjanya.

The young homeowners were looking for a space that would exude calm and elegance; somewhere they could relax at the end of a stressful workday, and where all that they held dear to their hearts could find a special place. As Anitha explained, “Ever since we bought this land two years ago, we have been saving up and visualising our dream home. As women, we always look for quality with economy. We were looking for someone who could give us a beautiful home, without a steep price point to match! “

And that’s exactly what the HomeLane team delivered! Quiet simplicity and soft, subdued elegance are the hallmarks of this warm and welcoming abode. Ornate ostentation is eschewed for understated luxury, with a simple style vocabulary, a seamless spatial flow and an expanse of marble adding visual depth. Tying the décor together, simple ceilings with thoughtfully designed layers of lighting add both warmth and functionality to the ambience.

Designer Sowjanya has pulled out all the stops for her clients, weaving a home that is unique in its execution, and celebrates the style of its occupants. She has managed to carve out tranquil, cosy zones within the expanse of the sprawling villa, keeping the scale personal and comfortable. In her words, “Right from the initial stage, the entire team had a really good rapport with the clients – they knew whom to trust, and could call and talk to us any time, if they had any queries. What made them truly happy with HomeLane was their overall experience!”

Let’s take a tour of Anitha and Mahenthiran’s lovely home.

As the adage goes, it’s always the little details that make all the difference. Sowjanya has carefully curated artwork that blends in with the colour palette, adding those much-needed visual pauses for the eye to rest on and appreciate. Case in point: this delicate mural on the wall!

To keep things simple, the designer has opted to use a base tone of white everywhere, and this allows the furniture and artefacts to stand out. Striking brass and wood murals, like the one on this wall, are chosen as display pieces that underline the couple’s love for art.

This magnificent panoramic mural of seven horses, mounted on a rosewood-fluted wall, is a testament to the homeowners’ appreciation for fine artwork and brass sculptures.

A striking brass mural of a dancing Ganesha holds the fort at the far end of this passage. Rosewood cladding on the wall continues the design narrative from the living room.

The entertainment centre, beautifully orchestrated in rosewood and white laminate, is a bold expression in the contemporary black-and-white theme used throughout the home. The stepped design of the floor cabinetry has an inviting, artistic appeal that elevates it from the ordinary.

Amalgamating function with style, this spacious black kitchen is characterised by careful attention to detail. The walls are draped in fine Italian marble all the way to the ceiling, underlining the thread of opulence that runs through the design language of the whole home. Sleek, inky black cabinets and drawers are meticulously modern in outlook and are aligned to the ‘form follows function’ adage.

The countertops are of highly polished black quartz and seamlessly blend in with the cabinet finishes. In striking contrast are the marble finishes on the walls and floor; luxe ivory on the walls and soft yellow on the floor.

A state-of-the-art microwave and OTG are neatly integrated within the cabinetry, keeping the counters free of clutter. A tambour unit with a sliding aluminium shutter in another corner hides away bulky kitchen appliances when not in use. Space-saving storage units below the counter maximise every inch of storage space.

The placement of the fridge, cooktop and sink is in keeping with the kitchen work triangle, making the layout ergonomically efficient. All the surfaces are glossy and easy to maintain – something that Anitha was very particular about!

Cleverly conceptualised lighting heightens the drama in this bedroom, casting a glow around the mirror frame and reflecting the light off various surfaces. The choice of soft yellow strip lights dials up the warmth.

The master bedroom further plays with the monochrome theme, incorporating a built-in window seat with storage below alongside the wardrobe, and a long, floating entertainment unit opposite the bed for night-time TV viewing.

In the study room, twin desks with ample storage allow for productive work-from-home days!

In keeping with the client’s brief, the designers have sought to create a timeless narrative that will never go out of style; a neutral backdrop to which the young couple can keep adding over the years.  Anitha loved her experience with the HomeLane team, enthusing, “HomeLane lived up to all their promises, and even completed the project in 45 days although we moved up the installation ahead of schedule! From scratch, whatever HomeLane has done, was the best!”

We’re happy to concur! HomeLane delivers. We give you the quality you expect, and designs that match your taste and your lifestyle– on time, every time. And that’s a promise! If you’d like your home interiors to be designed and executed by our team of experts, all you have to do is call.
