Mirrors are an interior designer’s favourite tool. They can transform the look of any room—they reflect gorgeous views, make a room appear lighter and brighter, and serve as decorative statements. All this, besides their most obvious function; which is to help you judge whether you’re dressed well enough to make heads turn at the party you’re going to!

The mirror you pick for your bathroom should never be an afterthought. By creatively integrating the mirror into your bathroom décor, you can turn even the most simple bathroom into a design showstopper.

Glitter and Gold

Go bold with this stunning black and gold bathroom, a pairing that never fails to intrigue! Framed in thin gold, the circular mirror is the focal point in the room, and beautifully complements the burnished gold circular sink and brass accents on the countertop. Luxe Italian marble with gold flecks make a stunning style statement on the walls and counter.

Silver-Edged Mirror

Bring on the drama with this sleek rectangular mirror that’s edged in silver glow lighting and bounces light everywhere! Instead of having a mirror light just above, this designer chooses to use an LED strip on all four sides of the mirror, like a border. Plain grey tiles on the walls and a hexagon-tiled floor add a lovely aesthetic.

Twinning It!

The chic style of this modern bathroom is enhanced by the use of twin rectangular mirrors, framed in the same wood as the vanity, and lit up with wall sconces on both sides. No more jostling for space in front of the mirror every morning! The cabinets below the twin sinks hold beautifully crisp, fresh towels.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

This lovely oval mirror embellished with an ornate gold frame is straight out of a Disney princess movie, and is the perfect foil to the gorgeous little antique brass bowl sink below! The rest of the bathroom, done up in brass accents and natural stone tiles, carries the look forward.

Geometric Shapes

The simple hexagonal frame of this mirror is perfectly in tune with the hexagonal patterned wallpaper and simple counter and sink. The thin trim of the frame and simple finishes add to the bathroom’s elegant aesthetic.

Out of the Ordinary

Instead of fixating on symmetry and geometric shapes, think out of the box and opt for something that’s not a regular shape! This odd and interesting mirror is neon back-lit to lend an air of sophistication in this compact bathroom.

Large Illuminated Circle

Why not think beyond the vanity, and extend the mirror down almost till floor level, adding an extra dimension to your bathroom space! This unique half-circular mirror incorporates a large storage unit in white laminate to one side. The LED backlighting pops against the dark tile on the walls and accentuates the circular shape.

Frame with a Ledge

When designing a tiny bathroom, you’ll need to get creative, and think of convenience! Here’s a two-in-one idea you’re going to love. This large rectangular mirror comes with a frame that extends out into a ledge, where you can park bottles and brushes for easy access.

Keep Your Bathroom Mirror Clean and Streak-Free!

If you thought that just wiping down a steamy mirror after your bath will keep it clean, you’ve got to think again. More often than not, this makes the mirror dry with streaks, which looks worse than it did before. And neither does wiping down with a balled-up newspaper work anymore. Today’s print ink tends to leave behind residue— and your mirror will end up with ugly blue-black marks all over.

Here are some tips to keep your bathroom mirror squeaky clean and dirt-free:

  • First, dust your mirror and the frame with a dry microfibre cloth. If there are any spots, dried hairspray splatter or other grime, wipe hard and it will come right away.
  • Use an organic glass cleaner, or spray a half-and-half mixture of white vinegar and water on the surface of the mirror. Wipe down again using a clean flat-weave microfibre cloth. Start from one end of the mirror and work your way downwards, leaving no spot untouched.
  • Always wipe in a small circular motion, so that there are no streaks left behind.
  • Do this cleaning exercise at least once a week. If there is grime build-up, it gets harder to get the mirror clean again.
  • Note that anti-fog bathroom mirrors are available that stay fog-free even after the steamiest of baths!
