Functionality and comfort are given top priority in Vivek Kumar’s elegant 4 BHK in Eco Springs, Mandur. Soft tones, streamlined silhouettes and thoughtfully laid out spatial flows characterise this lovely home, designed around minimalist principles. Vivek Kumar wanted a modern home that was unique, stylish—and yet fit into his budget of less than 10 lakhs! A tall order? Not with HomeLane taking care of the interiors.
Vivek talks to our team about how his interior design journey unfolded, on time and within budget!
“From the start, we were looking for either a villa plot or a built villa. We explored Sarjapur and different parts of the city, and finally found this plot within our budget here in Mandur. After building the house, we had around 10 lakh left, and this was the amount we were comfortable spending on the interiors.”, Vivek tells us.
With budget constraints clearly defined from the start, the HomeLane design team approached the project strategically. “They were very transparent about costs and helped us prioritise what was essential versus what was nice-to-have,” explains Vivek.
The initial quote was slightly above their budget, but HomeLane offered a seasonal discount that brought the final cost down to just 9.88 lakhs—coming in under their 10-lakh budget! And this discount was the clincher, allowing them to get premium designs within their exact budget, and making the whole process much less stressful.
Was there anything he spent beyond this amount of 10 lakhs? Vivek nods, “Yes, we did spend another 1 lakh on the TV unit, shoe rack and false ceiling, which were not part of the initial discussions. There were some elements in the kitchen, too, that were not done by the HomeLane team—the hob, chimney, and countertop that we sourced directly came to another 75,000 extra.”
Let’s take a walk through the Kumar home, discovering how every room was designed to perfectly align with the cost constraints.

Budget: INR 5,80,000
Balancing style with affordability, this lovely all-white kitchen features clean white cabinetry against the bold black countertops and chimney. Elegant pendant lights define the functional island, which was something the family had always wanted! As Vivek explains, “This was our dream house, and we had given the kitchen a lot of thought! We’ve seen these stunning homes with island kitchens in movies and always wanted to make that vision a reality. “
And they were very pleased with the way this lovely kitchen came to be! As Vivek tells us, the island itself cost around INR 75,000—the hob and chimney were a package deal, for which he paid 60,000, and the jet-black granite counter of around 4 by 4 and a half feet was an additional 15,000.
Below the island, deep drawers with thoughtfully designed accessories help to keep all the kitchen essentials neatly organised and yet easily accessible when needed. Everything has its place, and the countertops are immaculately clean and clutter-free.
Every inch of space has been maximised, with an extra run of loft cabinets extending all the way to the ceiling. Two elegant tall cabinets hold plenty of space for pantry items and groceries, while a dedicated appliance cabinet neatly houses the microwave and OTG.
