After a long and sumptuous dinner – the kind that you know you will remember for aeons to come – the thought of cleaning your kitchen feels like someone smacked you with a bag of potatoes right in the gut. It’s a piece of wrong inadequate knowledge, but the fact is that dirty kitchen you just left behind you will NOT clean itself. Sad, but true. Creating a beautiful looking meal like this can leave your kitchen a complete mess! But before you take a rag to the granite slab, wait a minute and think. Is there any way you can reduce the clutter and dirt? Do you think smart kitchen storage solutions would help? We think so too!

So here are some easy storage hacks that will decrease clutter your kitchen and translate into easy cleaning. Whether you’re working with a smaller kitchen or a larger space, these tips will come in handy:

Hang Those Pans

Use hooks to store your pans. It’s a lot easier than pulling them out of drawers and cabinets, getting the handles stuck on the way. You can plan for this when you’re designing your smart kitchen, or simply add a piece of wood to your wall and attach some hooks.

Store Spice Bottles In Drawers

It’s very tempting to keep your spices spread out over the countertop, but you’ll find that keeping them in a drawer or open shelves might prove more convenient. Lay them out on their sides, and you’ll find it much easier to spot which is what and use dividers for better organization.

Work Your Kitchen Island

If you don’t need more cabinets, try making some open shelves in your kitchen island, with just enough space to keep those recipe books and other decorations.

Use Wicker Baskets For Extra Storage

Wire baskets are easy to handle and can fit into both open and closed shelves. Plus, they are sturdy enough to hold all that you need them to – from washed plates and dishes to your groceries. If you wish to be more eco-friendly, you can also choose from a range of available wicker baskets.

Organize That Sink

Dish-washing soap, sponges and so on tend to spill out onto your countertop space. Use a hanging organizer to reclaim some of that counter space, or put them into a ceramic pot to add some cuteness to the cleanness!

Don’t Neglect The Corners

They tend to slip our minds, even when we are tight on space. To get around the dilemma of wasted corner space, you can install sliding door cabinets or ladder pull-out shelves to make the most of these areas.

Lovely tips! Planning to add wicker baskets to my kitchen after reading this article. Majority of my spices and condiments are stashed away but the ones I use a lot are kept on a magnetic rack. This ensures that they don’t clutter my counter and yet are easy to access.
